One of the literacy media that can be used by teachers during early reading learning is big book media. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Big Book media to improve students' reading. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a Post Test Only Control Group Design research design. This study involved 64 second-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Bogor. Data were collected through student reading literacy tests, observation sheets and in-dept interview. The data obtained were then analyzed using the descriptive and inferential statistic with t-test. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the Big Book media was effective in increasing students' reading literacy skills (sig. 0.000 < 0.05). The results of the post-test reading literacy in the control class got an average score of 56.01 (an indicator of understanding the content of the text); 50.45 (text content analysis indicator) and 45.68 (text content evaluation indicator). The results of the post-test reading literacy in the experimental class got an average score of 86.55 (an indicator of understanding the content of the text); 84.95 (text content analysis indicator) and 82.08 (text content evaluation indicator). The results of the observation of the implementation of learning with Big Book media obtained a percentage of 95.89% in the very good category and the student response test regarding the effectiveness of the Big Book media got an average score of 86.75 with the "Very Good" category. This shows that the BigBook media is very interesting, useful, and easy to understand by students and can be implemented to improve students' reading literacy skills.
