Abstract
The decision to marry in the family is a joint decision. Parents and their children agreed to marry their children, as well as their children who are willing to marry even though they are still at school age. This study aims to find out students making decisions to marry early. The research was conducted in Pamijahan District. The study population was SMA/MA/SMK students aged 16-18 years. The sample in this study amounted to 53 students. The research method uses a survey method with descriptive quantitative data analysis techniques.. The results showed that students' perceptions of the impact of child marriage cases were in the high category (above 50%), namely the low level of education, low legal protection, low understanding of religion, low reproductive health, high risk of death for young mothers and their babies, the low role of teachers and scholars, low economic level, high divorce rate, low family resilience, decreased regional and national income, low quality of maternal and child health. The students conveyed the reasons parents married their children at school age in the high category (above 50%) namely the child had dropped out of school, prevented adultery, at the request of the child, tradition, reduced economic burden, and carried out religious orders (Akil balikh). This study concludes that most students already understand the impact of child marriage on themselves and their families, but this is still ongoing due to tradition and the inability to refuse their parents' requests.
